School Counselor
We are an interdisciplinary team that advocates for all students to be college, career, and citizenship ready.
Middle school counselors provide:
- Classroom counseling
- Behavior and attendance intervention
- Group, individual, and crisis counseling
- Scheduling
High School Planning
Counselors provide information to 8th graders as they approach high school regarding courses and scheduling. We encourage parents and guardians to assist their student where possible with this process. More information can be found on the Ames High website.
Counselor Rotation
Middle school counselors rotate annually to remain with their class of students all three years of middle school. The 2024-2025 counselor designation is:
- 6th Grade – Jennifer Haglund
- 7th Grade – Matt Adams
- 8th Grade – Emily Hackbarth
